A scientific journal, support for research initiatives, exchange with schools abroad, and adoption of modern diagnostic and treatment methods.
Taking part in drafting and discussing clinical approaches, expert work within specialist groups, and raising the quality of the cancer service.
Professional ties between specialists in Kazakhstan and the region, and support for young doctors, residents and medical physicists.
The Kazakhstan Society of Oncologists and Radiologists (KSOR) is a professional association of specialists working in oncology and diagnostic imaging: oncologists, radiologists, haematologists, nuclear medicine specialists, medical physicists and related professions.
The society dates back to 1960, when a scientific society of oncologists and radiologists was founded at the Kazakh Institute of Oncology and Radiology. Over six decades it became the forum in which the country’s cancer service took shape: the first national programmes were debated here, staff for regional dispensaries were trained, and approaches to diagnosis and treatment were worked out.
Today KSOR continues that work in a new format. The society holds the congresses of oncologists and radiologists of Kazakhstan, international scientific and practical forums and educational courses, runs a regular programme of webinars and masterclasses, publishes the Eurasian Journal of Oncology and Radiology, and develops outreach projects for patients and their families.
A significant part of the society’s work is carried out together with the Kazakh Institute of Oncology and Radiology, KSOR’s core scientific and clinical base. Its partner network spans professional associations and clinics across Central Asia, Turkey, Europe, the United States and the Asia-Pacific region.
The society is open to specialists from every region of Kazakhstan and from neighbouring countries: membership gives access to educational materials, reduced fees at events, and a place in the working groups that shape professional standards.
KSOR operates as a public association. The organisation was registered on 18 April 2025 and continues the work of the scientific society of oncologists and radiologists of Kazakhstan founded in 1960.

KSOR seeks support from companies and organisations to run congresses, forums and educational programmes. The society follows these principles:
- 1The scientific programme, lecture topics and the line-up of speakers are decided by the society’s scientific committee independently of sponsors.
- 2Materials prepared with a company’s support are labelled as such; sessions organised by a company are marked as a satellite symposium naming the sponsor.
- 3The society does not carry advertising for medicines and does not recommend specific brand names.
- 4Partner logos are shown with their written consent and do not imply their endorsement of the society’s content.
